That's basically it. ..I need a recipe for a soft, chewy molasses cookie. I have a friend who wants me to make cookies like his grandma used to. My recipes are for more of a crispy cookie. ... HELP!

Soft Molasses Cookies:

Ingredients:
1c. sugar
1c. molasses
1tsp. salt
2tsp. vanilla
1tsp. ginger
4tsp. soda
2/3 c. warm water
5c. flour
1tsp. cr. of tartar
1 egg
1c. melted butter

Combine sugar & molasses & add salt, vanilla, & ginger. Dissolve soda in warm water & add to mixture. Add flour & cr. of tartar. Add egg & melted butter. These will be very soft, so put dough in refrigerator to chill for a few hours. Roll out & cut with cookie cutter... between 1/4 - .5" thick... you know, cookie thickness. Bake at 375 for app. 10 min...but keep an eye on them so they don't burn.
