This is Mariam, the newest doll I made for my daughter.  I'm so excited about it.  I really think it's the best doll I ever made.  I modified the lily doll from http://www.sugarncream.com/data/pattern/pdf/Lily_SugarnCreamweb100_cr_lily.en_US.pdf to make it.  I changed the shape of the legs and decided to crochet the shoes and skirt as onto the doll instead of as separate pieces - I don't want to work so hard making then only to have my daughter lose them.  I also made her taller.  I have to thank Beth from By hook, by hand because I learned a lot by reading her tutorials.  I made the head able to move from side to side using her technique.  And I made fingers!!!  I'm totally excited about it - though I really hated making them!  I love the way it looks.  But I know I need more practice on it.  I used Sharon Ojala's technique to make them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGXbIgRLBz8 It was really difficult and frustrating but I love the way it looks.  I put curly hair on her because my daughter has curly hair and wants her dolls to have it.  It's also a pain, but worth it.  I just wish I hadn't run out of my blue yarn so that I could have made her hair more full - although it does make the head heavier and I don't know if I could have made her head moveable if I put in more curls.  It's obvious that I wasn't a crocheter before starting amigurumi when you look at the sweater.  I really don't know how to make one and used the pattern that was provided in the doll pattern.  I don't like the way it looks - but I think the doll needed that splash of color.

Anyways I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thanks.  I enjoyed making the hair, but the jacket was frustrating.  Even though I don't have any interest in making clothes for people I wished I had some experience to make a nicer one.  That one is the one from the pattern.

Thanks everyone.  My daughter always insists on curly hair - like hers- which makes it harder.  Got a lot of inspiration from the By Hook By Hand blog!
