So my NY resolution was to stash bust.  I had been given lots of double knit yarn and wanted to use as much as possible.  I picked the ten stitch blanket by Frankie Brown and got to work.  Three months later I was finished, and I added an icord edging using this tutorial.

It is very bright and cosy!  The finished blanket fits a double bed.  I would recommend this pattern, you only ever have 10 stitches on the needles, so it is easy to pick up and do a few rows.  There are ridges on the joins one side, and it is flat on the other.

The corners are a little complicated at first, but you soon get used to them, plus the bigger the blanket the more infrequent the corners!  Now, to stash bust the other sizes of yarn! Grin

Love this! definitely something I could do too - adding the pattern to my library now!

I think your blanket looks great with all its bright colours! What a great de-stash too! I know market sellers who sell big bags of wool cheep, might be perfect for this sort of pattern. Did you save up some colours to do more than one section, or just use up each yarn as you came to it? Either way - awesome job! I bet you're (rightly) very proud of this blanket!

Thank you! I tried not to get the same colour to touch (although there are different shades of colours that meet).  I had lots of the bright pink yarn, so I did at times stop the ball a little early to switch to something else.  I really liked using tiny balls of yarn - there was a great sense of satisfaction when I used up a ball, and got to pick a new colour.

This is beautiful, amazing work!  I've seen the pattern around before, but I really love this one.  It's so cheerful.  Are all of the yarns you used the same weight?  I've thought about making one, but my scraps are all over the place in terms of size Tongue

Wow! I love this! And, even as a brand new knitter, I think I could actually make it. It would be fun to try as a baby blanket!

Does it make a square or rectangular blanket?

Are all of the yarns you used the same weight?  I've thought about making one, but my scraps are all over the place in terms of size Tongue

All these yarns were DK (although some they were all from random manufacturers so the thickness did vary a bit).  Depending on what you weight of yarn you have the most of you could double up the threads? (so doubling up 4-ply to get DK, or doubling DK to get aran).  Although that might just make things more complicated!  Cheesy

It does make a square.  The beauty is with this pattern that you can just finish whenever you have had enough  Cheesy

I was just in the thrift store the other day, and I passed up a bag of blue yarns (an a partially completed crocheted afghan). It's probably gone... but it would have been the perfect yarn to use for my first attempt at this blanket. Maybe I should take a short drive... just in case Smiley

Love it!  I've slowly been spinning batches of Romney from a breeder in Maryland and want to eventually make a blanket out of it.  This could be the pattern for me!  Thanks for sharing.

That pattern is amazing. I'm doing one for myself on the knitting loom, and yep, the corners were tricky, but it's so simple and you can do it for hours.

I LOVE your take on it. Everything is so nicely put together and all of the colours work great with each other. It's great!

This is so inspiring! When I first saw this two weeks ago, I forgot to post a comment because I was too eager to start knitting my own!

Knitting a blanket has always been on my bucket list, but I always got so discouraged with other patterns -- the ones where you knit huge long rows for days and you can't imagine how it will ever be a blanket, so you unravel it and make another hat... But  with this one, I can see the blanket coming together! And it's fun to throw so many colors together. Plus I can work on it while I'm snuggled up watching Netflix... Mine is only the size of a bed pillow right now, but I'm in love with it! Thanks for posting this!
