MY paper CD cases ;) (w/ pics and TUTORIAL) - 1st topic of mine!
«
on:
July 06, 2005 06:19:49 AM »
I've just read a thread started by JaneGtar about making paper CD cases and was amazed at how clever her way was
I mean, I've been doing everything another way. And just wanted to share.
If anyone's interested, I'll describe the way I do my covers..
BTW, making CD covers is my way of fighting depression. Well, maybe not depression, but rather sadness. It has helped me several times when I felt so down. (sounds weird, huh?) I guess I just concentrate on this and it gets my mind off something that has been worrying me for some time. Well, that's off topic.

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Yay, someone's interested in it
And I'm so glad (and, to say the truth, surprised) to hear (err.. read) someone say "Labas" to me! Yay! Are you from Lithuania or in some way connected to it?
OK, here's my method
It's sorta illogical as there are obviously easier ways to get the same results. But oh well.
BTW, the instructions ar MUCH MORE complicated than the method itself. (I can't get the pictures to work if I attach them to the post :/)
1. Take a piece of A4 paper you want to use. Cut one piece of approx. 25.8 cm x 12.6 cm (10.32 x 5.04 inch I believe, I'm not good at conversions) or whatever size you need - the longer one is a double length of the cover, the shorter one - the width of it. (Don't mind the rotten CD, it's my tea cup stand (or whatever it's called)-notepad-whatever)
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd1.html
2. Cut two pieces of paper (these will be the sides of the CD cover). I take the leftovers of the paper, so I dont really know the width of it as I simply divide what is left into to parts. And the length equals the lenth of the CD cover (obviously). The piccy explains it better..
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd2.html
3. Mhm..
Stick the sides of the cover to one part of the cover.. (see pic). Add "lining" if desired. Or add some kind of a detail to make the inside more unique (I LOVE sticking something inside which cannot be seen from the outside, hee hee).
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd3.html
4. Glue the other sides of the sides (
) of the cover.
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd4.html
5. And.. Stick to the other part of the cover!
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd5.html
6. Ta-dam!!! You're very own cover is complete. Technically. But now the fun part begins - decorating!!! No limits here
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd6.html
7. And now.. Mm.. I cannot imagine what CD I should put in it
Anyone has any ideas?
http://public.fotki.com/avizzius/crafts/cd7.html
P.S. This is my first time explaining something (I've only explained Maths before this
), so.. Please let me now if it's too.. Something.

it's great to see that crafting helps you to get through things... i'm a bit the same - although not so much these days that life's back on track.
all your covers look great - i especially love the stamped one, it looks awesome!
keep up the good crafting!

Oooh! The one with all the stamps is fabulous! I have tons of old stamps I can use to make something similar... my stamp collection has been living in my albums in a closet for years.

I like that method, Avizzius. You could even make a flap and some kind of closure. I think I will try this for a CD I made my sister.
PS I am Latvian and my best Latvian friend is married to a Lithuanian.
