So it has been a little while but I thought I would throw up one of the projects I did a while back. A friend of mine was moving in with her boyfriend and she was going to have a craft room. Now one of the things she really likes to do is knit so I wanted to make her a unique cabinet to put her yarn and projects etc. in. Well I made her a TARDIS. Now she had never seen the show but her boyfriend agreed that she would like it and it actually prompted her to watch the show so a win win. I am still waiting for a final picture from her with everything set up but without further adieu here is the project. Hope you enjoy it. (wife threatened it wasn't leaving the house)

It just seemed fitting.

Here are little cubby holes that can be used to store all sorts of things. I also made it so the whole "Pane" section of each window can slide out in case you want to have 1 big cubby on that side, or slide them both out and have 2 big cubbies.

Here is a close up of the poles. I opted for poles that she could hang skeens of yarn from instead of shelves, and added hooks from the top so she could hang the spinning things she uses to make yarn or any other tools that can hang. I did the police box sign by hand... with patience.

Now I am just having some fun

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Over all dimensions if I remember were HxWxD 48" x 24" x 10".

Anything Doctor Who related to me is awesome. The fact that it's functional makes it much more so! Love it Smiley

I was just scrolling through the "Recent with pictures" without reading anything - I spotted this and thought: That is just perfect for yarn!

Lo and behold, that's exactly what it is. I say you've succeeded! This is awesome. Much coveted here!

Thank you, like I said my wife didn't want it to leave the house. and when it didn't fit in the car she was like "I guess that settles it, it stays" but then I moved the seat and got it in Smiley

This is great, Joe! I like how you've captured the look of the TARDIS without forcing it to be exactly the same shape or proportion, which wouldn't have been as practical as a cabinet. Using the dividers of the cubbyholes as the window grilles was brilliant!

Are there really any people under the age of eighty who have never watched Doctor Who? How odd!

Thanks Wulf, I debated back and forth about adding the light on top but i figured it would just get in the way as using it for a shelf. And not only has she not watch Dr. Who she has never seen any of the star wars movies. But got the Droid phone that looked like R2D2 because it was awesome.

Wow, incredible! I'm glad this cabinet encouraged your friend to start watching; I think it will help her love her yarn TARDIS even more than she presumably already does! ^____^
