My mother-in-law turned 60 this year and as a family we were all too poor to put on a big party or huge present.  Then it occurred to me that I could make her a lap quilt, as she likes to have something over her knees when she's watching TV.  A dig through the stash provided just enough fabrics of the right size to make this:

Finished size is 48 inches square.

The family chipped in with a couple of pounds each for the backing and binding.  Hard to see from my crappy photos, but the binding is a jolly brown-and-cream spotty affair, which complements the lime beautifully.  And I made a pretty label frame thing with more stash fabric.

I already had the batting as well, so the whole thing only cost 20, and she loves it.  Hurray!

Beautiful! I like the pattern. It's very sweet. Good for you doing what you can for her. 60 is a big birthday.

Oh, that's gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Those straight white lines are a perfect compliment all that brilliant colour and pattern. Just lovely Smiley.
