Yet another imp-like thing. The cage was a white metal garden ornament type deal. The rest is mostly paper mâché, wooden skewers, wire and a cheap plastic skeleton. I think I am making progress towards making the end product less shiny while still being varnished.

Very cool! I'm always a fan of creepy crafts throughout the year, and I think you did an excellent job on that one.  Cheesy

This is stunning - something I would totally buy at a craft fair or love to receive in a swap. Amazing work.

that's really neat.  I don't normally like "creepy" things, but this has an eerie beauty about it.

You might want to try a product called Testors Dullcote if you are having trouble getting the matte finish you want.

I had read so many great reviews about Testors Dullcote, and then finally found a can of it and tested it. It leaves the best matte finish out of all the matte finishes I have tried, zero shine, no gritty texture, and no stickiness. The only problem I have had with it so far is that I applied it too thick on one of my test pieces and it made the ink run. To avoid that problem next time I will probably try sealing my inked pieces with Krylon Crystal Clear first, then once it is dry hit it with a layer of Testors Dullcote.

Strangely I've had a heck of a time trying to find this. Can't seem to find it in Ottawa. Though I suppose maybe miniatures online stores may have it. But I'm still trying to find it.

I have heard that it can be hard to find. Hobby shops like the ones that sell model kits would probably have it. I looked for it in big craft stores and didn’t find it, but ended up finding some by chance at my local grocery store.
