Happy Fiber Friday!

I finally finished my ladybug yarn!  I finally finished my ladybug yarn!!  As you'll see, I took a very literal approach when it came to the ladybug spin-along.  I've been really wanting to spin a yarn with buttons and silk flowers for a long time, so this was a great chance to do that.

I used a sparkly green yarn as the base (Caron Simply Soft Party), really strong variegated cotton thread to ply, ladybug buttons, and disassembed silk flowers.  The sliding hook on my flyer was too small for the big stuff, so I had to attach a keyring to the flyer with a rubber band, and it worked fine.

Here it is!

This is lovely! I've been thinking about doing something with green for my ladybug yarn for next year's auction but I didn't know how it would turn out. This gives me hope that it will be great because this is so great! I would call this one a total art yarn. Yay! I'm so happy you've spun ladybugs with me.

That is so beautiful.  Do you think it could be knit?  It would be so lovely to have a jersey with those lovely ladybirds and flowers scattered over it.

Thanks, everyone!  It was so fun to spin this up.  I've been imagining  this yarn for years, and nice to see it finished.

Elderflower, I'm sure it could be knit or crocheted. I would guess it would have to be a fairly loose knit though, just to make sure the buttons and flowers didn't distort the guage of the work.  I was thinking a lacy shawlette would be pretty.

Awesome yarn. It looks just like a grassy field. I love the use of the buttons.
