My own design, based on my cat, my first needlepoint exercise, although the scale's bigger than usual needlepoint, but hey, it's my first!  So, it's on plastic canvas, mostly done with obscure balls of knitting yarn with bits of ribbon and metallic craft yarn and twine thrown in for contrast.  My favorites, by far, are the angora-ish yarns (doubled and quadrupled to meet gage), that leave a nice halo when pulled through (and are so soothing to work with!), and the boucle yarns that have a nice nubbliness... you can't see the contrast in texture in the picture as well, but that was much of the joy of it.

What really doesn't work, however, is chenille...  It gets shredded in the canvas and drops fuzzy bits everywhere.

Now I just have to figure out how to hang it.  I made a dreadful mess of the back, it's unlikely it can be made to lie flat.   Tongue

Great work, astormorray!  I just love seeing original designs.  It's nice to know I'm not the only one squirreling away on my lonesome.

Wow, I love how retro looking that is. Great job on designing it yourself! If I saw this in person all the contrasting colors and textures would mesmerize me for awhile.
