My 1st grade son is invited to an ”Under the Sea”-themed birthday party. When he heard that costumes are encouraged, he asked me to crochet him a Davey Jones (cthulhu) mask. Add a $4 hat from Michaels and a feather -- done!

I started freehanding this one night, so I don't have a pattern -- but in order to make the ends of the tentacles curl, you just chain like 15 at the end, then dc pretty snugly back toward the tentacle. It'll curl on its own!

To keep it on, I just tied a spare piece of elastic to the area by the ears -- it's pretty comfortable.

Oh, and he wants you to know that the tentacle on the right is about to remove his hat for him.

Thanks for looking!

I want one too! This is brilliant, and it would be so cool if one of the tentacles could be made to doff a hat. That'll be version 2, I guess.
