Yesterday was our favorite day of the year here on Craftster, April Fool's Day!  Did you notice all the subtle shenanigans?

We need to say thank you!! to all of our fabulous April Fool's moderators (or should I say "monsters"?). Do you know who's who?

sweets4now, junggrl, kittyspill, tackycoo, Ayeslynn, altermommy, alwaysinmyrum, batgill, Bellatune, HUG, kuz814, luau, LimeRoot, loves2expedite, MissWillow, Phizzychuck, photojeans, spaceodyssey2001, SevsOtherGirl, supertwitch, TheFoolMoon and, of course, MareMarePrincessCon suelaBananaHammockC rapBag

We had a fresh new batch of logos & slogans.  It appears a little elf got into the text editor and had some fun!

As usual, all of our sweatervests, I mean avatars, were taken over! This year our images came from wonderful people and institutions on Flickr. We encourage you to check out the users or the collection from which they came! You may be surprised at what you find. I mean, did you realize Neil Armstrong was in those avatars?

(Does that last one remind you of anything?  Wink)

We're certain our breaking News section was very helpful to you as well. Grin
Random News: How do knitters travel?  By cable car!
Random News: Why did the sheep avoid going to bars?  She didn't like being carded!
Random News: What did the hat say to the afghan?  "You stay here, Ill go on a head."
Random News: A knitter was going on a trip. Her friend asked if she was all packed, to which she replied, "Alpaca later!"

We also had just a few a bunch of hiccups with words... or should I saw swords? Grin  Just because you typed something when you posted, doesn't mean that's what showed up! It was nuts (almonds)! Any iteration of April Fool's turned into plain old "Monday". Swap was suddenly backwards and showed up as "paws", a gallery became a "bop", and for some reason knit turned into "crochet"!

Look what we did to the poor Swap Gallery thread titles! Grin

One of the most widespread was actually "hat". It isn't that we talk about hats all the time (although there are plenty of hats on Craftster), but that any word with h-a-t in it suddenly had "bucket" in its place! That became tbucket, what became wbucket, and hate became buckete! It was an amazing unintentional consequence.  Wink

Some of our favorite adjectives also changed. Great was suddenly supercalifragilisti cexpialidocious! Awesome was suddenly bacon! (I mean, bacon is always awesome, but awesome isn't usually bacon, you know?) And you no longer said love, but live!

Here's a list of the others that were switched. Did you catch them all?

amigurumi = amigur... I don't know how to spell it.
apron = pamplemousse
ATC = TAC
bead = biscuit
crafty = crabby
dress = spork
embroider = embalm
glass = class
hat = bucket
hoopla = hullabaloo
paper = rock
spun = spinned
quilling = quilting
quilled = quilted
polymer = polygon
potholder = pothole
purse = terse
shawl = owl
totes = totally
yarn = string

avatar = sweatervest
cats = I, for one, welcome our new cat overlords.
cool = crabs
FOC = FOG
Friend = Fried
funny = fuzzy
Doctor Who = Doctor When
Dr. Who = Dr. When
Harry Potter = Harry Caray
moderator = monster
mods = monsters
nuts = almonds
photos = daguerreotypes
Pinterest = Wists
raisin = I have no idea what I'm saying
words = swords
Zombie = the zed word

And last, but certainly not least, were your reactions to whacky Craftster day. Cheesy

Some people were confused:

Some people didn't know they were being funny:

And some people had caught on, but their posts still didn't quite translate as intended!

Thanks for another wonderful April Fools day, everyone! Kiss

I had so much fun yesterday! Here are some of my favorite screen shots! (Click on them to view them full size.)

Harry Caray became super popular, seemingly overnight... Wists made a good comeback as well.

So many beautiful sporks!

Pawspers! Pawsping! hehe!

The only way you could see Mare's full name was to go to her profile. It was huge!

The one day I was actually named junggrl.  Wink People might have been able to find me better yesterday! Cheesy

I love it when people's personal text fit perfectly with their new avatars!

I live Monday Day, too!!  Grin Grin

So much fun! Thanks for all your hard work jungrrl and sweets! I'm kind of missing my long name already! I hadn't seen the "Bacon doesn't need a reason" picture, I think that might be the best!

I had super supercalifragilisti cexpialidocious fun yesterday!  I missed a few of the fun word swaps on your list, but for the most part by the end of the day realized I had become fluent in Prankster Monday speak Grin

thanks for the summary!  I think everyone was a good sport, and I laughed all day...I did everything I could to avoid the word "cat" and I did not speak to Mare because I was afraid her name was going to take over my posts! Cheesy

Thanks for a fun Monday. I didn't get to spend much time on the site yesterday, but I was giggling the entire evening. I was baffled by some of the word switches, so thanks for posting the list.
A favorite quote I ran into yesterday, from waggonswest:
"how can we stay on topic when the chickens are goat? Almonds!"  Cheesy
