I have a WIP that fits my geekdom (yay!), I am trying for the hikau, I have an idea for red vs blue, and I don't know if I will be able to think of a pirate vs ninja idea. I am getting my husband involved, talking ideas through with him etc, so that makes it more fun for me.

I have a WIP for the hoop-along that fits my geekiness team theme; can I count that in the games?

My timeline is something like... crochet crochet crochet... get distracted... remember project and crochet some more... get distracted... think up a new research project I like more... sign up for to many craft swaps and run out of time to work on afghan... work frantically on granny squares for a few days... misplace project bag... eventually find bag and crochet some more... start to attach squares together and get frustrated... give up on research project.

This is a fabulous timeline!  I LOVE it!  Cheesy  Its my kind of timeline too.

I'm trying to think of something I'm working on that would fit into the first challenge.  :-/  Not sure if anything I have will work.

Research Project Proposal:

Project Title: The Geometry of Motifs: The Closest Packed Afghan

Project Description: After researching a variety of joining techniques, a random assemblage of mostly non-square crochet motifs will be joined together. This will undoubtedly involve the additional crocheting of small geometric filler motifs (small squares & triangles, most likely) to create a more perfect fit and to eliminate the excessive use of chain stitches.

How it fits my Geekdom (Team S & M): Akin to tessellations, with a hint of the packing of molecules in crystal structures (although this will only be in 2 dimensions), my project connects to math  (motif geometry, random distribution) and science (closest packing of molecules). However, there is the possiblility that the electromagnetic spectrum of visible light could come into play if I cannot handle the random nature of the motifs, and switch to some sort of organized color arrangement. Smiley

Timeline: By the end of July, 2013 (as long as it can be more than a 3-week project!)
Complete one more round of the Scavenger Hunt Crochet Motif Swap. Lay out a white bedsheet. Toss all motifs in the air above the sheet. Pin them to the sheet where they land (allowing for slight adjustments for any overlapping motifs). Determine the appropriate filler motifs (number, size and shape). Crochet filler motifs. Crochet all motifs together into afghan. Add border to afghan. Curl up under afghan and collapse in exhaustion.

SOOOO CLOSE!!!  Cool

Research Project Proposal:
Project Name: Teesha Moore Patch Sewing Machine Cover
Team: Team Dystopia!!
Brief Description: I'll be piecing together lots of geeky patches to make a sewing machine cover. I've received some in swaps, but have yet to make myself any. I'll be working on these patches and sewing them all together to make a patchwork of geeky protectiveness for my machine. Fabric, beads, embroidery floss, and batting will be my weapons of choice. I'll propose a completion date of end of July-ish which I will undoubtedly pass. The patches will probably be of the multi-nerdverse, but a few dystopian themes will be included for sure!
