Please help me get over this insane fear! I made and quilted my first two quilt tops and now I am scared to attach the binding. I don't know what my mental bloack is about this! The quilt tops were not anything special - just some jelly roll race type quilts - it wasn't like I spent hours of my life doing them!

Help me get over this so that my twins room remodel can be completed!  Shocked

There's nothing to fear!!! I know it sounds really daunting. And if you're like me, you read every online tutorial there was to find.

What I did to get over the fear was to back up and make something small, like a pot holder or a mug rug. Really quick afternoon project and if you fudge it up there's a lot less seam ripping! Just go slow and when you get to the finish, you'll see that it really isn't all that bad Wink

Is there a particular step to attaching the binding that you're scared of? For me, it was the idea of hand-stitching to the back. I finally just said, "Forget that noise!" and machine stitched the entire binding. It looked fine and I had a quilt ready to donate to Project Linus. Cheesy

I have read many tutorials and already decided to machine stitch the entire binding. I know this sounds odd but I really think its a psychological thing. It's like I can't rectify in my head that I'm making these quilts. Maybe I should call them blankets!

Anyway, thank you for the help ladies - I'm binding these things today!

Hi there!  I'm new, just joined today.  This was the first post I read, and I'm curious to know if you completed your bindings.  You can do it, and I hope you've ALREADY done it!   Smiley

I'm guessing you've added binding by now but just in case (or for other bindaphobics Wink )...I find this video makes it extremely easy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWh90tXr7g4

I've done it that way or, when I accidentally cut my binding strips too narrow on the MAQ swap (doh! Embarrassed ) I followed the video but hand stitched the back (slip stitch).  I love Youtube - you can just pause as you go along as needed.   Wink  Honestly, I find the binding the quickest part of the whole process when it was all said & done.

I am collecting cotton Hawaiian fabric scraps for a quilt if you wanted to send any my way!
