Crafting to keep insanity at bay.

So here's a fun idea: I am obsessed with screen printing right now and I thought it would be really fun if there was a swap where we all created our own textiles and swapped them with another person. It could be screen printing, potato prints, using a stamp, etc etc! There are so many ways to do it.

Here are some tutorials on craftster and around the web for some inspiration:

How to Screen Print at Home
How to print your own fabric
Monoprints on Fabric
LimeRiot's Bubblewrap Printing Tutorial
LimeRiot's Toilet rock Printed Bag With Tutorial
maximumRABBIT's foam stamp tutorial
Sunprinting with Cyanotype
Block printing on fabric
Homemade Block printing with things found around the Home!
Potato Printing
My own screen printing tutorial for printing at home!

I'm thinking to keep it low stress we could swap a fat quarter worth of printed fabric (or more if you and your partner agree to it), and then a small item to accompany it. Maybe a neat tool or stamp for future printing. Something like that.

I could start sign ups in a couple of weeks, give a month for crafting, and then send outs. Any takers?

Edit: I'm pretty flexible on dates. I was thinking I'd wait a couple of weeks to see how much interest germinates and then start sign ups...let's say April 14th for 2 weeks, Send out May 31st? That gives us a full month for printing!

Edit: I think we've come to an agreement that I will make a feature in the questionnaire, whether you would like to have 1 partner or 2, or are open to either option  Grin

I would love to do a print making swap! It would give me the push I need to try out my new screenprinting supplies.

I actually scored a used screen printing kit at a thrift shop- it came with a screen, screen filler, drawing fluid and some textile inks. The best part was that it was only $5!

I am going to have to study your tutorial again and figure out how to use everything. Grin

This sounds like fun but I don't think I have the right equipment or skill set Smiley.

Are you kidding me?? Your toilet paper tube printing tutorial was one of the inspirations I listed; I love the geometric and simple qualities of that particular print. It doesn't have to be an elaborate or complicated. And your vegetable stamping is awesome too! I totally hope you join this swap, you have talent down to your pinkies!  Grin

I've got a Yudu that needs to get a workout! I've been itching to try out a new technique and printing up some fabric would give me the perfect excuse. Now, I just need to see if the timing works...
