Well, Anana is getting to experience some of the "fun" of being in Florida today as Tropical Storm Andrea (the first named storm of the 2013 Hurricane season) is dumping tons of heavy rain and winds and even tornadoes on the state.

It's raining hard and sideways and I don't want to risk damaging my camera, so here's a quick shot from my balcony. Hard to tell how heavy the rain is in a still shot but it is.

I'm where the red arrow is pointing so you can see it's pretty close by.

Waterbaby: Ouch, fires sound even worse than a flooding to me.. by the way I'm happy I learnt that the commonly used form of the disaster's name is "flooding", not "flood"... I derived it from the famous quote "after us comes the flood" and have been using the noun "flood" for my whole life Cheesy (and I've learnt here some new words too!). What are the grape leaves stuffed with? I suppose rice?

"Flood" is both a noun and a verb (noun: a flood; verb: to flood), so your usage has been proper all along!

And yes, these grape leaves were filled with rice; they came with a few Greek olives and a couple of chunks of feta cheese as well.  So-o-o yummy!

Well I won't be posting for a couple days. I ruptured my Achilles tendon on a hike today and have to be flown to Juneau for surgery. I'm hoping to get a couple photos in the state capitol while I'm there Smiley

Love seeing all the photos Smiley It's so cool to see how different (and similar) life is across the globe

Oh no! When someone asked me what I was most afraid of, I said it's rupturing my Achilles tendon. I imagine that's the most painful thing in the  world.. I feel truly sorry for your tendon Sad

The remains of a tropical storm are passing through, so what do Clyde and I do? Go to the oceanfront, naturally. It wasn't even raining, so we got some neat photos of the public art, and the sand soccer championships setting up.

That's King Neptune! He's a 34-foot statue erected in 2005.

SO MANY more photos at the blog, with a lot of explanation too (particularly about the Norwegian Lady statue): http://clydeinvb.blogspot.com/2013/06/oceanfront.html

I took D'ood to the citymuseum of Hasselt.

Now we know everything about the city I study in Cheesy
There was also a temporary exhibit about clocks:

And he went backstage with my brother but because it was so busy he spend most of his time where the magic happens: The lightboard

I just realized it's been a very long time since I've posted a picture... Things have been pretty busy, but Monroe was able to follow me to a gig last night!  (I was playing in a local show's pit.)

This week we went to a screening of the new Star Trek movie on the Paramount studio lot.

The sky backdrop on the right is huge (that's a real car at the base of it, not a toy) and a standard feature on the lot for at least a few decades, used by any production that needs an expanse of clouds (it gets repainted depending on the "weather" requirements).

The movie was in 3D, and though the glasses were a little too big for Franklin...

...I think he enjoyed the show anyway.

We wandered around the lot for a while afterwards (not really supposed to, but I've learned that if you're somewhere you shouldn't be but act like you should be, people will assume you're supposed to be), which I believe is the oldest studio facility in Los Angeles still in operation.  The property was originally developed by United Artists around 1918 -- Soundstage 1 has a plaque indicating it was built in 1922 -- and then purchased by Paramount in 1926.  An adjacent property belonged to RKO studios, which was bought by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz (of I Love Lucy fame), and eventually sold to and absorbed by Paramount.

This is the original front gate, which has been seen in photos and many, many movies over the years:
