Here are some pictures from the commercial shoot I was on last week...which I just realized also falls into the work photo category!

Snapping photos on set (or location) is pretty common these days, but there are some projects where it's not allowed, or at least you're not supposed to take pictures for publication (i.e., social media).  This was one of those jobs, so I didn't take a lot of pix, and none that would reveal much of anything.

Franklin found a good perch on the camera while we were between setting up shots:

A surprising technique used on this project was a rear projection, something that was pretty standard in fiilmmaking for decades, but has become relatively uncommon thanks to green (or blue) screen technology.  The way it works is that a filmed background is projected from behind onto a giant screen, and the actors are in front of the screen.  Maybe it's a couple walking along a big city street at night.  The actors will walk on a moving platform, like the bed of a treadmill, while film that was shot on a big city street at night, moving in the direction the couple is moving, is projected on the screen behind them, while the camera is in front of them capturing it all.

Here Franklin is watching one of our backgrounds playing on the back of our rear projection screen:

And here's a view to the front of the screen, some of our crew members were figuring out where to put things for the next shot:

Have a few more but will save those for the blog I've set up for Franklin's visit...and will eventually start posting to....

I have pics from last weekend's outing to edit and post but I've been so busy I just haven't had a chance. I'll get to them soon, I promise! We also have more adventures planned for this weekend too. Grin

I had a great potential adventure for Clyde last night (I went to an Opeth concert) but I was too worried that he might emerge smelling like smoke, or getting a beer spilled on him, or succumbing to the throes of a mosh pit. So I let him sit that one out. But we'll have more adventures soon!

Still need to edit the big batch of pics from this weekend, but in the meantime, here are the past two challenge shots.

The Weather
It's been kinda dreary and overcast a lot lately but no real rain. (Well, it rained like 3am the other night but I was asleep so I didn't get a shot.) Overcast is boring but TODAY it's been raining all day in a light drizzle. Slightly more interesting then just overcast skies.

Day Job
Well, I work for myself! Which means I work from my computer desk or my couch. Wink This afternoon, I've been working on a bunch of orders for Mother's Day and Anana was helping so I stopped to take a shot:

For now, time to make dinner! Grin

Whoa!  Look at all those pliers!

I hope to get a picture of Monroe at my *fun* job yesterday (playing in the current opera production), but I lost track of time and he just ended up listening.. Oops!  I guess I'll just have to bring him to school with me...

With a little luck there will be more to come!  In fact, I might be working on a little indie movie next month....
