I tried SO HARD to get some really neat photos in Norfolk today, but traffic and parking conspired against me. Here's one I do have:

You may recall the Virginia Beach dolphin... here's a Norfolk mermaid! She's at the med school (the one my fiance starts at this fall!)

More photos and SUCH a wordy post at:

Woohoo, all the exams are over- I passed the test of adulthood Grin Unfortunately the topic I got wasn't Australia but anway.. So much relief!
Today start the "Napoleonic celebrations" in my city, they will continue whole month. That's because in a small town near my city- Chlumec- took place one of the most important Napoleon's battles, battle of Kulm (Kulm= German name for Chlumec) 200 years ago. There were four armies- French, Russian, Prussian and Austrian and each week will take place events focused on one of these countries and their traditions. We start with Germany (Prussia). The only problem is, most of these events take place outside and we've had some awful rains last few days- it even looks we might have a flood soon :/
I hope me and Aussie will visit some of the events anyway. I should definitely go at least to a "French evening" where I am supposed to recite Prévert's Déjeuner du matin and me and my friend have already signed ourselves for a Russian cuisine course Grin

We went to Bruges again today (my dad's aunt lives there) and we saw this:

Can you guess what this is made of?
We've been very busy as well because my brother's school will be having performances soon and they'll be selling waffles, so we made some. Just 400 that's all:

(psst: it's chocolate)

I've taken many an LV over the various rounds to The Pier in downtown St. Petersburg. With it's funky, inverted pyramid shape and awesome top floor observation deck offering a wonderful view of the skyline and Tampa Bay, it makes for a wonderful landmark photo.

Well, it's being torn down and replaced because the city feels it costs too much money to fix and instead wants to invest that money into something new. This is causing a lot of disagreement and contention among St. Pete residents. Either way though, yesterday, May 31st was the final day it was open. So Love and I grabbed Anana and drove out there for one final visit. Thousands of people came out throughout the day to see it and every news crew in town was there reporting live as well.

Many more and larger pics here: http://anana-visits-florida.blogspot.com/2013/06/farewell-to-pier.html

It's bittersweet to think Anana is the last ever Little Visitor who I will get to take to The Pier.

Yeah Anofeles - congratulations!! In New South Wales we have the High School Certificate (HSC) and we get a certain mark which we then use to see which courses we score high enough for to get into university. The marks are called different things depending on which state you are in.

We had a pretty quiet weekend but decided to drive into town today (it was raining heavily) and had lunch and looked through a DVD/CD shop for some bargains. But then on the way home the sun started to come out so we tried to see some whales (as they are migrating north at the moment) but must have been too early. Then we drove home and visited our beach headland and got some photos.

Check out some more pics on Riki's blog!!
