Ive had these old oak pallets for awhile that Ive really wanted to do something with. And yesterday after messing for a bit I came up with this.

It is an American Goldfinch painted in acrylic on reclaimed oak. 20 1/2 inches tall by 15 inches wide. Im not quite sure what Im gonna do with him yet, but I will shop him around friends and family then go from there. I do know one thing though, it weights a friggin ton. Its a good 7 lbs, so I need to look into a good mounting system for hanging.

I really like the idea of using reclaimed wood as a painting surface, your piece turned out fabulous!  Did you have to do a lot of layering with the acrylics to get good coverage as wood is so porous?
