I've been wanting to do an upcycled denim project for a while now, and after going through my Denim Ideas Pinterest board, I decided to give this tutorial a go. I sent them out in a swap, but I really want to make a set for myself now. There are so many options when it come to coordinating shades, shapes, etc. I was really happy with how they turned out!

Thanks for looking! Smiley

Cool! So glad Kittykill put this on the Craftster blog this week! I have such a hard time throwing out old jeans - this suggests lots of new reasons not to!

Did you wash the coasters after you stitched them to make the edges fray evenly, or did you rough them up by hand somehow?

I stitched the coasters up, then snipped around the raw edges with scissors, threw them all in a pillowcase (so the denim bits don't go everywhere) and washed them. Stop the dryer halfway through and open the pillowcase and kinda rough the edges up a bit by hand to help them out, throw them back in the case and dry.

I think there are tips in that linked tute in the first post as well. I'm glad you like them. I'm thinking some placemats might be neat as well.
