I love the discussions in the thread! It really helps a newbie like me. I haven't made that many pincushions, and since I'm more of a yarnie than a sewer it's great to learn what's useful in a pincushion and how you can stuff it. I sew a little bit, and dabble in embroidery, but I'm more familiar with hooks and knitting needles.

I hadn't thought of putting felting needles in a pincushion... That's a good way to store them. I recently bought some for mending wool clothes, but I haven't started using them yet. They scare me a little  Grin

Will you add pins to the pincushion you send? Anyone else planning to make the pincushion using some other technique than sewing?

Annchen...

I have been admiring the pincushions that you stuff into teacups or other small things...you basically use a bit of fabric and stuffing and glue them into the item...you can embellish them with buttons, embroidery, etc. decorate the cup or glass...no sewing involved!

There are also some pretty awesome knit and crochet pincushions out there...google knit or crochet pincushions for ideas

I've chosen the pattern, but I still have to find the fabric.

I'm considering making a needlefelted pincushion rather than sewn, but could change my mind a few times before settling on a design Smiley

One of the best pincushions I ever received was needle felted!  I love it and have used it for a number of years...it is unusual and a nice thing to collect...I bet whatever you do will be lovely!
