Hey there, Craftsterland!

Again with the hot process soap making in my crock pot! A friend and I made this one. She came up with the recipe for the essential oil blend- it has orange, vanilla, and tea tree essential oils. We were hoping for a creamsicle sort of scent, but no dice. Even though it doesn't smell quite like creamsicles, the scent is quite lovely. It's very light and citrus-y, with just a hint of vanilla. You can't really smell the tea tree at all. We added poppy seeds as a gentle exfoliant. This is some of the best soap I've ever made or used!

What about you guys? Any success using essential oils to come up with a creamsicle scent? My biggest problem is that the vanilla IS SO DARN EXPENSIVE! We refuse to use fragrance oils, we're sticking with just essential oils.

C&C always welcome!

The problem I have with soaps like this is that I really want to eat it.

I know logically that this is soap and you don't eat soap, but the way you've described it makes it sound so yummy!  Grin

I also had no idea you could make soap in a crock pot until you made your posts today~

Sounds like a good blend!

Honestly, it's hard to get non-natural fragrances from natural sources. You could try upping the vanilla and leaving the tea tree out, but I bet it smells lovely anyways! I will stick with my creamsicle FO though Cheesy

I'm in Gr33nT3a's camp.  I want to eat that soap.  And I can almost smell it, just thinking about it. Wonderful.

Certain scents are almost impossible to duplicate with EO's. Orange and vanilla smell great together but not like creamsicle. I also don't want to use FO but I have found a few companies hat state certain ones don't have the poisonous additives of the regular ones. Also some companies have EO's mixed with FO's. That being said your soap looks great. I also use Polly's in one or my soap and. I one has had an allergic reaction to them as an exfoliatant. Dee
