I have always loved crafting and have recently developed a passion for yoga. I am attempting to get certified as a professional yoga instructor within the year. As much as I know I will love teaching yoga, I also know I will miss crafting despately. Of course, I will still craft in my spare time, but I would love to join the two together. I am at a loss as to how to do this!

I have dreams of running a successful small business selling my crafts (mostly fiberwork). But I simultaneously have dreams of bringing peace and mindfulness to others through yoga. I'd love to have a little discussion about how to bridge these two loves. Any ideas?

I don't know that I have a lot of advice. I'm also wondering how to bridge the gap between two loves - making pottery and the dream of owning a yarn store. Both are full time occupations, as is your case.

What kind of fiberwork do you love? What does that mean to you? Is there a practical application for your work among your yoga students? Is it decorative? What about developing a yoga studio with your artwork on display? Selling your crafts is, to my mind, much more difficult to make successful than teaching yoga. Teaching reuses the inexhaustible resource of knowledge.

Um what's wrong with crafting just for fun (yeah, yeah, I know this is the "biz advice" forum)? If you make a success of the yoga thing, you're not going to have much time for crafting. Make yourself or a friend/family member something nice once in a while and that will probably settle the craving. If you want to combine the two, I would suggest teaching rather than selling. Yoga is relaxing, crafting is relaxing (well, it is as long as you have time to craft!). Mentally, the two can go together; however, they're not necessarily the same customer base, so spending more time trying to drum up a whole different set of customers isn't going to add to your success, it will simply spread you thin.
