Meet Our Super Swappers underthemountain and Homerof2!!

The month of March is National Craft month and we would like to give a shout out to some of our swapping Superstars!  You will likely recognize our top 2 Craftster swappers from around the boards, underthemountain (formerly atsuko) and Homerof2 who have participated in an astounding 303 swaps between the two of them!!  We asked them a few questions in a rare non-swapping moment about their lives and time on Craftster


underthemountain joined Craftster in March 2006 and became a FOC in August 2006.  She has participated in an impressive 157 swaps!

Tell us about yourself
Craftster has renewed my belief that people are kind and good.  I have met so many wonderful and generous people here.  My daughter Lana has been raised on Craftster love (she was 2 when I joined) and has enjoyed so many wonderful goodies from her Craftster Aunties.  She has learned what a joyful thing it is to make something for someone and I am proud to say that she is a mini Craftster in the making.  Thank you Craftsters for making our world a better place!!

What do you like to make?
I like to a variety of items: pottery, jewellery, felt food, amigurumi, bake.  I've been making jewellery for 20+ years and enjoy it, but my true passion is hand building clay.  I loved it so much that I almost left my Ph.D. program to get my M.F.A.

What do you enjoy the most about swapping?  
Meeting and making new friends is my favorite part about swapping.  It is also so much fun to see new techniques and receive goodies that I can't make myself.


Homerof2 became a member of Craftster on January 19, 2006.  She has participated in an amazing 146 swaps!

Tell us about yourself

I'm 47 and I've been married to the greatest man in the entire world for 27 years.  We have two sons, both in their 20s, and a beautiful daughter-in-law.  I work two days a week as a receptionist in a walk-in doctors office (I like to say I work part-time but one friend likes to call me 'semi-retired'.)  My mom taught me to crochet and cross stitch when I was quite young, I learned to sew in grade 8 and I taught myself to knit last November (yeah You Tube.)  When my sons were younger, I sewed all their clothes as well as dress shirts and sweatshirts for my husband.  Looking back at pictures now, I realize just how much my husband must love me because I loved bright colors on my boys and used to make matching sweatshirts for all 3 of them and he actually wore them in public!  I'm still in love with bright colors.

What do you like to make?

Quilts of all sizes, Crochet and Knit projects, Hoops (embroidered and cross stitched)  My newest craft is making ATCs and they are so much fun.

What do you enjoy the most about swapping?

When I first starting swapping over the internet (more than 15 years ago) it was the novelty of doing something new, something none of my friends had ever heard about and sending to foreign countries but now it's for the fun of making items for others.  Honestly, it's become giving is better than getting (don't get me wrong, I've received many wonderful items over the years) but I have more than I need and I'd be very happy to just make and send items.

This is so impressive!!! I've been in at least a couple of swaps with both of these super swappers and happen to know that they are lovely ladies and great swap partners .

Hmmm, I was telling myself I needed a swap break since work is so busy but this is really making me want to browse the open swap board .

Wow!  that's a lot of swaps!! such wonderful women too.  I've been lucky to swap with Homerof2 twice!  I've yet to swap with Underthemountain, but maybe I'll join a few more swaps and hope!
