Hello all,

Everyone should have a favorite flower.  They are beautiful, enchanting, and are rich with history and imagination.  Most have myths or legends associated with them; ever wonder how the forget-me-not got its name?

Here is a webpage dedicated to flowers and some of their most facinating info.
http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/flowers/pcd10.html
It's a teensy bit slow, but  please be patient, as the contents are worth the wait.

These are just some ideas for inspiration:

embroidery
hair decorations
floral fabric clothing and bags (sarongs would be fantastic!)
paintings
jewelry
beading
cards
dried flower crafts
etc...

Of course we would each have our preferences mentioned for type of items desired.

What does everyone think?

I think this sounds like fun.  My favorite flower is the lilac, but it wasn't on that website  Undecided  Now you have me intrigued... must search elsewhere and see if the lilac has a story.

i personally wouldn't do this swap, but be EXTREMELY CAREFUL if you're sending dried flowers internationally. actually, just don't do it. even dried flowers can disrupt the ecosystem in which your local flora thrives.

Sewberrycrazy, I couldn't find stories, but I did find lilac inspired poetry.  Here's one I like:

 A Song of the Lilac

  Above the wall that's broken,
And from the coppice thinned,
So sacred and so sweet
The lilac in the wind!
And when by night the May wind blows
The lilac-blooms apart,
The memory of his first love
Is shaken on his heart.

In tears it long was buried,
And trances wrapt it round;
O how they wake it now,
The fragrance and the sound!
For when by night the May wind blows
The lilac-blooms apart,
The memory of his first love
Is shaken on his heart.

Beautiful, I love it.

I'm having a baby in a couple weeks (my 3rd little girl) and we've been talking about naming her Sabrina, but after this post came up it got me thinking... and now we might name her Lila.
I think maybe we'll have to see her first, before we know "who" she is.   Wink

Congratulations!   Smiley

Lila and Sabrina are both wonderful choices.  Very feminine and classy.

this sounds awesome. i was just thinking today that i love hibiscus flowers. hmm.. i wouldn't be able to do it until mid-august, i think.  Undecided

sewberrycrazy, Lila is such a beautiful name. I freaked out when I read that. That is so awesome. You could name her Lila Sabrina? Maybe too many a's. haha. Thats really beautiful, though. And more unique. I love.
