Really struggle to find one that can actually work with a bit of detail, chalk is completely useless and so are all the pencils Ive tried, I use a sharpie marker for my light fabrics and it works fine but I really need something that can work with shapes on dark fabric, I use a pastel pen at the moment but the lines get so thick it is impossible to be precise.

Do you mean to trace pattern pieces and such?  I use either a chalk liner (Ebay example) or a white water erasable pen (Another random ebay example)

If you mean for permanent details...um, I've heard heat-setting prismacolour markers works well, but I'm not sure how well the white would show up on dark fabrics. Or you could try those gel pens or a fine-tipped white-out? Not really sure if any of these would work for what you want but wouldn't hurt to do a test.

All we have to decide is what to craft with the time that is given to us.
