My kitchen's theme is the 1950's. I'd been having a hard time finding a vintage clock that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg so I decided to make my own.

I picked up a copy of the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book at my local Goodwill for $3.00 and the clock movement kit and numbers from the craft store.


First, I drilled a hole in the cover.


Then I used an X-acto to carve out a recess for the clock movement to sit in.


The finished clock!

Freaking awesome! I adore the 1950s and I would love a 50s kitchen too. I rent right now so there's not much I can do to dress my kitchen up, but this kind of project would be perfect. Thanks for sharing.
