I do not know where this idea came from.  it just hit me after I read about this challenge.  I am so incredibly happy with how this turned out!!!  so of course, I now want to make more.  Grin Grin Grin

first I'll show a picture of it straight on, then some closeups, then a picture to prove that it is an actual book:

most everything is stuff that I've either bought over the years or got in a swap (thank the gods for the cabochons I got from corduroy cat.  I needed something to go under the windup key with the star buttons, and I was going crazy trying to find something to put it on so the hearts would swing freely).  I need more frozen Charlottes now that I used my only one in this.  Tongue  the opening is covered by a thick piece of plexiglass (so I don't have to dust it!!!  lol).

hope you like it!

Very interesting piece, with a lot to look at. I like your choice of colors, it suits your theme very well.

thank you very much.  Smiley  I used some black and red to make it pop and because the book itself is red and black...and because they're 2 of my favorite colors.  Grin

Wow, I really like this idea; I really like how you nailed the theme, and the fiberglass cover really makes it into an amazingly unique display.

thank you thank you!  Grin

I really am super proud of this.  I found another book I had bought for altering, but it's a tad intimidating because it's almost twice as thick as this book is.  that's a LOT of cutting.  but I'm gonna do it.  I do want to find a thinner "glass" first though.

thank you!

I'm so glad I didn't screw up my measurements for the lining too much (I had to cut the inside pieces twice!!!  I had to rip it all off the first time because it wasn't sticking, so I had to cut it all a second time).  it was the last piece of cork with "writing" on it, so I may not have had enough time to finish it by tomorrow if I had to search all the Michaels around me.  but it all worked out.  Smiley  getting the tissue paper to cover the dividers wasn't something I had originally planned, but I'm glad I did it.

lol.  is that a hint?  Wink  but yeah, it would be fun to do something like this for someone else.  Smiley  make them a little shadowbox book where they can stash all kinds of neat little items.
