Hi everyone,
my daughter is obsessed with Brave and princess Merida and she decided she wanted to have brave themed B-day party, dress included.
I never worked with velour before and it was terrible. I had no idea there was such thing as nap and therefore cut the fabric out how the pattern pieces fit - the final dress looks like it's made of two different shades of green now. Learn something new every day lol
I also didnt use correct needle and thread so I had lots of problems with the velour bunching up or just not sewing evenly and that caused a lot of ripped seams. I was so ready to just throw the whole thing in the trash and buy her the dress at toys-r-us. BUt I ended up finishing after all.
There are few details that I didnt have time to finish like the collar and sleeves as I was working on it till the last minute - morning of the party. Spent 2 nights sewing. The lack of sleep about killed me.
Never again am I doing this. Ever.

That being said, I love how the dress turned out. Wish I had better pictures.

After all this work you can admire the results. The dress looks great. Your daughter might ask for another one next year.

I think you did a great job, and she looks incredibly happy to be wearing it and having the best birthday party ever! It makes me appreciate when my mom made me a princess costume, than I promptly ruined while bobbing for apples.

You're an awesome mom Smiley

Velour is tricky!  But look how happy she is!  What a great party idea and what great taste your daughter has in movies.

I think your dress looks beautiful. And I'm sure your daughter loved it, which is what really matters.
