Lena was an aspiring dancer in the 1920's in a hotel bar.  Her life was tragically cut short when she was caught in the crossfire of a mob shoot-out.  Due to her tragic death she is unable to move on, and wanders the halls of the hotel.  Guests have been known to hear the swish of fringe and the tap of dance shoes...

Lena started out as a (poorly made) Gholia Yelps doll.  I cut her hair and re-did her faceup.  The dress was handmade by me out of cotton and fringe.  I had the shoes from another doll, but they were black and purple so I repainted them to match the ghost theme.  The headband is trim and a wedding pick I found at Hobby Lobby.

C&C welcome as this is only my 2nd custom doll.

She's really pretty! I love her shoes. My sister has the same CAM set.

I love the back story!

I love how the look fits with the back story too.

Have you looked for a smaller brush or different paints for the eyelashes?  I know my mother, who does a lot of dollhouse minis, sometimes used our cat's shed whiskers for certain very detailed stuff (she did the faces on her 1" tall nutcrackers with them).  I also read in a couple of the doll forums things about products and techniques to paint finer lines.  There were mentions of mediums to mix with paint to make it flow better, and treatments to do on the vinyl to make the painting easier.

I got a brush from Junky Spot that does nice fine lines. I kind of wanted thicker eyelashes for this girl, though. This is the look I was going for: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-59_WGfnkcr8/TotfFYPbsHI/AAAAAAAAAnk/C97i1KzgJtc/s1600/311519_2451826857292_1300636640_2936495_738949661_n.jpg. The cat whisker idea is a good one! I live with 2 cats so I'll be able to find some shed whiskers around.
