Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

I love it.  So practical and interesting at the same time.

Any ideas for crafting the insides of the book?

Yes!  I've used book pages to cover matchboxes (and then add decoration on top) like these: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=415418.0#axzz2Ndlx2aK9

Cut down, they make pages in tiny doll-sized books like these: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=420404.0#axzz2Ndlx2aK9

I also cut out heart shapes using my Sizzix and glue them to a card, then stamp over them like this:

I also plan to make some cards by stamping the big winged heart onto a book page, then cutting out the whole thing and gluing it to the card.  Book pages are wonderfully graphic without being too busy or distracting, so there really are tons of ways to incorporate them into projects.

You got my vote!  I love beautiful things that are fully functional and your sewing box definitely fits the bill.  Good luck!

Sweet idea and I think it's something I may do some day soon!  I am sure the recipient was very pleased!

Not a critique just a curiosity, why not use pages from the book to cover the box?  Was the paper not strong enough?
