Note from the Deputy Headmistress...

May 7-May 31, 2013

The HPA has extended their annual Accio Books Campaign!  Therefore the Headmistress and I have decided to extend our Accio Books Challenge until the HPA closes theirs on May 31st.  For anyone who wanted to participate, but just didn't have time over the previous 2 week span (like myself), you now have 25 more days to donate!  Cheesy

Details can be found in the Deputy Headmistresses Office!

Sorry for the delay in this announcement. May has completely snuck up on me!

This month's Gryffindor of the Month has been a long time coming. She is an amazing crafter, advocate, and teacher, and she never fails to encourage the entire HPC with her creative contributions! April's GotM is...jennieingram!!

Congratulations deputy headmistress! Wear it with pride!

psst...look familiar?  Wink

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
Gryffindor Extra Credit: Charms - use more than one color
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Patchwork Scarf
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: My son actually sewed most of this scarf with minimal help from me (a bit of lining up and guiding). He chose all the fabrics and had the idea to make a scarf. I just helped (and provided the stash of course)!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
Gryffindor Extra Credit: Alchemy: M for Masarepa
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Colombian Style Empanadas
Project Page Link: http://southamericanfood.about.com/od/snacksstreetfood/r/colombianempanadas.htm
Brief Description: I made these empanadas and dipping sauce for dinner the other night. They are a bit of work, but so worth it. I left out the meat to make a vegetarian version. My husband requested chicken next time, lol. Of course, we had tequila, too! Wink

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Potions
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Baby Swaddling Wraps
Project Page Link: http://blog.makezine.com/craft/craft_pattern_podcast_snuggler/?CMP=OTC-5JF307375954
Brief Description: I had to think really hard about what smells would be in my amortentia. I finally decided that one smell would have to be that newborn baby smell. My husband still swears our son smells like it sometimes (he's almost four - that smell? It's not what you think it is). Now, any baby just reminds me of that wonderful time in our lives when our son was our newest adventure (still is!). I made two of these swaddling wraps for a friend who is expecting twins. I'm sure they'll have that wonderful baby smell.

You have such a neat kiddo! What a wonderful scarf! He is already developing such a creative spirit!

Those empandas look so yummy!  I used to eat them all the time in Panama!
