class; divination
house: ravenclaw
project;
There are all different sorts of cards inside the machines that muggles call computers; graphics cards, sound cards, memory cards.... each machine contains one of each 'suit' of these cards - and just like our cards, these machines can be used to read and get information - or just to play games with Smiley having studied these cards, I now submit my carteomancy homework;

I used the cards to decorate notebooks, and added some stamped detail (the binary can be read as the initials of the people I will give these notepads to)

Class: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Orchids & Fairylights
Brief Description: Bowtruckles are known to be tree dwellers. I thought it would be fun to try to attract some to me so I could study them close up. I made this hat, which cabling patterns resemble the trees that bowtruckles live in.

Made from SouthWest Trading Co. Luxury Llama 1.5 skeins.

Class: Defense Against the Dark Arts
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Expecto Patronum Bracelet

Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I have made a few Expecto Patronum Bracelets in the past, but I had never been able to make one for myself, as my patronus is not a widely loved creature, and I had a devil of a time finding a charm for one.  It is the Fisher, also known as a Fisher Cat, although they are not cats.  Fishers are relatives of the Weasel family, and live in the woods in New England where I grew up.  If you hear one in the woods at night, it's cry sounds something like a woman's scream, and is quite chilling.  They are small, but rather fierce, and are one of the only natural predators of porcupines. (Not that I have anything against porcupines, but as they are rather tough themselves, it makes them formidable prey.)  I like the idea of a patronus that is small like myself (I'm just under 5' tall), but able to defend itself.

The bracelet itself is made of moonstone beads, since moonstone is thought to offer the wearer protection.  The spacers and bead caps are a dark gunmetal.  I wanted them to be dark, so that the silver patronus charm would appear all the brighter in contrast.

Class: Muggle Studies
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Calling the Moon Earrings

Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: While I had the moonstones out last night, I decided to keep playing.  Thinking about them reminded me of one of my favorite songs, Calling the Moon by Dar Williams.  I generally love just about anything Dar writes and sings, but this song is especially haunting.  Here are the lyrics to my favorite part.

And I know they'll be calling me soon
And if I don't answer I'm only the moon
I can see by her light
This one's going out to the moon tonight
Oh, I am calling the moon

Calling the moon
Cause I know what it's worth
To tug at the seas and illumine the earth
Oh, I am calling the moon
Oh, I am calling the moon.

Congratulations Pinkleo on the new responsibilities.

I have some projects to turn in now that one of my swaps has been received. I also think I failed to turn in one project I made for my nieces this Easter.
So forgive the long post.

Class:Transfiguration
House:Ravenclaw
Project Name: Little Peeps
Project Page On Ravelry

Last year I learned how to knit these little peeps. They were so fun and cute I decided to make my nieces little peeps and send it to them for Easter. I send the purple one to Nadia and Yellow one to Haylee.

Class:Muggle Studies
House:Ravenclaw
Project Name: Tardis Ipod Cozie
Project Page On Ravelry

Inspired by the idea that the Ipod stores music and is bigger on the inside
Your Serenade

Class:Charms
House:Ravenclaw
Project Name:Another Jayne's Hat
Project Page On Ravelry

Hats are warm and help protect you from rain and sometimes snow. This awesome hat also has earflaps to protect your lobes. Sadly the recipient of this hat had a bigger head, and it didn't quite fit right so its Charm isn't as effective.

Challenge:Marvolo Ring
House:Ravenclaw
Project Name:Infinity Cowl
Project Page On Ravelry

This Cowl was knit in the round (completely seamless) after a very confusing cast on. This "ring of Yarn" I created was fun to make once I got started. Its a technique I think I'd use again.
And that should be my last Horcrux!

Sorry for the long post. I hope you enjoyed the pictures. For more information about their receipt you can check out the Crafty Detective Gallery.
