~*Happy Advanced Studies Friday!*~

It seems like forever since I've updated on my NEWT.  It is actually forever since I updated on it.  Upon checking just now I realized I hadn't updated since February 27th!  I have made progress since then, albeit in small amounts here and there.  It's actually starting to look like an afghan now, instead of looking like a lumpy place mat.  According to my estimates I'm at about 45% done, but I may not do all 35 rows of stitches.  Due to the super-bulky nature of the yarn, it is already a bit bigger than the pattern calls for (pattern calls for bulky weight, rather than super-bulky).  I'm definitely going to do the last color block of 3 blue/ 1 white/ 3 red bands, like the previous 2 color blocks that I've already finished.  Depending on how much yarn I have left at that point, I might do a final band of 2-5 rows of white.  Not sure yet.

OWL Subject & Option: Potions
House: ravenclaw
Project Name: Playmat
Project Page Link (if available):
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=422044.0#axzz2OwJU00yK
Brief Description:
So. My owl was to do the first four texture squares on my playmat, showing the use of 4 textures as stipulated in the exam. I went a bit Hermione and finished the whole mat instead Cheesy

front:

back:

the whole thing is cotton and variegated thread, handsewn. There's more pics in the project link if your interested. It's basically 4 texture squares (crinkle, beanbag, pleats, squeakers), 4 play squares (pocket, flap, beads, bells) and a squishy middle square - backed onto linen

Just shows what you can achieve when you're employed to do nothing but sit around all day - I should do tech more often!!!

Beautifully done noodle-bug!  BTW, I've been meaning to ask you....  What exactly does a "sparky" do?  It's a term I've never come across in the world of theatre, so I'm guessing it's a Britishism for a job we call something else in the states.

Just doing a quick fly by today since its a 3day weekend. This evening I filled up a shoebox with some of my leftover yarn for my owl. I'm starting off with the red yarn and then I'm going to mix in the different colors randomly because I want a ragged look.

Owl Update!  After doing some simple multiplication, and calculating blanket/square size, I need 1050 squares, of which I have 15. For me to hit my time frame of 8 weeks, I need to hit roughly 130 a week.  I've been making them any time I'm watching movies, but it may take a bit longer than I expected to finish it Tongue
