class-alchemy-gryffendor extra credit- s for sweatshirt
house-gryffindor
project- dye is dangerous

my kids and i decided to do tie dye sweatshirts instead of easter eggs.  i had picked up some white hoodies on clearance, and a dye kit on clearance after halloween,so we dove in. i worked at a girls scout camp during college, so i know how to fold several diffrent patterns. i settled on horizontal stripes by accordian folding it from bottom to top, then securing it with rubber bands, then dying each section....

the kids wanted to be a bit more wild, so they bunched up their hoodies randomly, then dripped the dye all over.

the kits use squirt bottles for the dye instead of the old school buckets so it wasn't too bad as far as mess. the sweatshirts do soak up more dye than a t shirt though so we ended up using 2 kits. i also should the kids wore gloves but i was overly optomistic of my own talents so i ended up with purple hands. sorry not picture. nail polish remover, and laundry stain treater helped.

Challenge: House Unity
House : GO EAGLES!!
project: Crookshanks hoop

This hoop is crookshanks, lying happily atop a pile of books on hermione's bedside table. I snuck a little house unity message in there with my colour choices; yellow cat for hufflepuff and red, green & blue books for the other 3 houses Cheesy
(I'm not sure if you can tell that they are supposed to be books, what do you guys think?)

I'm finally getting around to posting a couple projects!  Yay!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Salted Caramel Sauce
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: From sugar and water boiling into a cauldron, cream, vanilla, and sea salt, we have satled caramel sauce! Mmmm!!!  This turned out so good!  I used the salted caramel to make a salted caramel frosting to top some chocolate cupcakes I made for my sister's birthday yesterday.  I also used the sauce after I frosted the cupcakes for a drizzle ontop.  I used this recipe here: http://bakedbree.com/sea-salt-and-vanilla-bean-caramel-sauce
Project Picture:

I now want to get some brownies and ice cream and drizzling this over the top.  Mmmm!  That would be so good!  I really want to just spoon the stuff directly into my mouth.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arthimancy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Salted Caramel Frosted Chocolate Cupcakes
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I've made super chocolate cake and cupcakes so many times already this year, I was getting kinda of tired of them.  But, my little sister's birthday was coming up and she loved those, but I knew there was something she loved even more, and that was salted caramel.  So I went and found a salted caramel frosting recipe online and use that on top of the normal extreme chocolate cake recipe I use for cupcakes.  The got rave reviews from whoever ate them (though I've yet to try one, even though I have 3 horded away in the fridge ^_^).  Using the above salted caramel sauce, I made the salted caramel frosting using this recipe: http://bakedbree.com/salted-caramel-frosting
and this recipe for the chocolate cupcakes (I use this recipe for cake and cupcakes and it is the only one I will ever use now): http://allrecipes.com/recipe/extreme-chocolate-cake/

~*Happy Advanced Studies Friday!*~
Show us your completed OWL/NEWT.  Propose an OWL/NEWT.  Tell about or show your Advanced Studies progress.  Tell or show your OWL/NEWT woes, and ask advice from our helpful students.

My OWL Progress: No pics, as it is a OAHPT swap piece, but I'm giddy with it & can't wait to show it off! Cool  So happy with extension vote because now I get to tweak the edging (yes, can say that much since pattyO knows her basic OAHPT format).  And as I suffer from no voice & allergies, I'm finding it a comfort and welcomel distraction to work with.

My NEWT Progress: All Squares Done!  I repeat with All Squares Done!!!  But joining will have to wait for OAHPT and my Diagon Alley slippers to be complete.  Can't believe that I'm almost done studying my Muggle Studies NEWT; never would have been motivated if not for NEWTs & fab HPCers (seriously...if you saw my Ghan WIP pile, you would be in shock!  I really should iron my hands, but will opt to serve Detention when possible.)

Plus, I'm already plotting my new OWL & NEWT proposals. (Yes, I must craft all the things!)  I'm pretty set that my next OWL/NEWT will be for SPEW (and destashing... somehow :::wearing my most innocent face:::, my yarn multiplies like tribbles Wink)

@Abbee: I'll say it again...WOW! Shocked  Your OWL Examiner will be by soon with your certificate. Cool

@Ant Bee: YAY SPEW! Grin  That Bunny Hat is A-DOR-A-BLE!!!

@jenleahlynn: Something cannot be too HP!  I love & covet your Nagini Horcrux! Great homage to Neville.  And great Lapifors spellwork! Grin

@jillybeans: HI!  Hope all is well with you!  Your spellwork looks so scrumptious! Kiss for recipe links!

@Maman: Adore your felt dollies!  And the Owlet Sweater is amazing!  Your kiddos are so luck to have such a crafty witch as their mom. Grin

@noodle-soup: I want to steal Accio all your hooplas!  I did a tiny research (and now another book to my to-read list), and I know you have this connect in someway to Ursa Major (I'm guessing the mistaken identity link...Arcas not knowing his mother was a bear and no one knowing Pickwick is a girl)...but curious to know if I'm right. Grin

pottermouth: I absolutely love anything gnomes!!!  How lucky & interesting that it is your patronus! (You are the first I've heard of having a Gnome Patronus)  love, love, love your tunnel book! Grin

@tia Love your binders!  All those cards are going to be a great joy to your DD in the future. Your pie looks DELISH! And your Peek-a-Box is bloody brilliant. (My kiddos loved pulling out all the wipes & tissues too, and they would have loved this!)Grin

@travelgirl: Oh your Caramel oatmeal cookie bars look divine!  Kiss for recipe link; I'm going to try to transfigure to GF. Grin

~*Sending blessings of good health to all*~
