Gryffindor Extra Credit Options

During the HPC Spring 2013 semester, Gryffindors can earn extra credit in EACH class. As you are crafting for your HPC coursework, incorporate the extra credit option listed FOR THAT CLASS (see below) for a Gryffindor ruby. The prompts below are very general, so have fun and get creative. Any way you incorporate these prompts will be accepted as long as you post pics and describe your work! Your extra credit can be part of your coursework craft or a distinctly separate creation. If you chose to create something distinct from your coursework for extra credit, no house points will be awarded. Extra credit options cannot be incorporated into challenges/house pride/any craft outside of course work. Students who achieve extra credit in seven of fifteen classes will be awarded a Gryffindor Prefect Badge. Students who achieve extra credit in all fifteen classes will be awarded a Gryffindor Head Boy/Girl Badge. This will transfer over to future semesters, so don't feel pressured to make Prefect or Head Boy/Girl this semester. All students can achieve Prefect and Head Boy/Girl, so get cracking! Enjoy the semester!

Course Extra Credit Options

Alchemy – Use a material or tool that starts with any letter in NICOLAS FLAMEL.
Apparition – Use a destination, determination, or deliberation in your craft.
Arithmancy – Calculate your Character Number, Heart Number, and Social Number. Use one of them in your craft.
Astronomy – Use a star, sun, or moon in your craft.
Care of Magical Creatures – For Hagrid's class, craft something larger than 10''x10''
Charms – Color Change Charm! Use more than one color in your craft (your choice).
Defense Against the Dark Arts – Be inspired by one of the DADA teachers from Harry’s time at Hogwarts (Quirrell, Lockheart, Lupin, Moody, Umbridge, Snape – your choice).
Divination – Speculate about the near or distant future and incorporate some aspect of your speculation in your craft.
Flying – Use the color blue in your craft.
Herbology – Get dirty while crafting (even some glue stuck to your hand counts!).
History of Magic – Just try to stay awake.
Muggle Studies – Be inspired by a muggle actor from the HP films.
Potions – Use any of the common potion ingredients in your craft (a representation or picture counts!).
Study of Ancient Runes – Symbols abound – use one in your craft.
Transfiguration – Animagus! Use an animal in your craft (not literally!).

Welcome To Slytherin House

Greetings, students, I am your Head of House, Professor Ant Bee. I trust your journey to Hogwarts was free from incident. *looks over glasses at a girl raising hand to tattle on a classmate* That was not a question, my dear.  

Now, first I would like to say welcome back to our returning students and remind you all to look out for our newly sorted members as they get their bearings.  Slytherin house is only as successful as its students and I would not want this year to disgrace our distinguished house.  When one Slytherin succeeds, all Slytherins succeed; when one fails... *makes eye contact with all students.*

It appears we are off to a worthy start- congratulations are in order for our dear second year student, ErinAquaheart for her achievement award of Witch of the Week. Well done, you make your house very proud.

Finally, students, you may send me an owl or visit my office here at any time- unless you cannot find the entrance, in which case I am not to be disturbed for anything short of a dire emergency. THere will be notices from me throughout the semester, as well as notices from your Quidditch Captain, professors of specific subjects and of course the Headmistresses.  Do be mindful of any deadlines and specific requirements- it is not only Ravenclaw who study well.

Students collect each badge by completing the challenge below. When a student collects all the badges, he makes the team and get an additional "I made the team" badge!!

Those challenges are extra challenges that do not give house points. However, it is compatible with any class assigment you turn in.

*^o^*Beater - Beaters take a beating! For your Beater Quidditch practice, show you can take it by crafting something using the colors black and blue.

*^o^*Chaser - There are three chasers on each Quidditch team, and they all have to work together. Demonstrate your ability to work as a team by crafting three of something or three items that go together.

*^o^*Seeker - Seekers have to have a keen eye. Often the first glimpse a seeker will get of the snitch is a flash of it's shiny metal surface. Sharpen your snitch seeking senses by crafting something sliver, gold, or shiny.

*^o^*Keeper - In 1997, Oliver Wood lead the Gryffindor Team to Quidditch victory. A keeper could learn a thing or two from Oliver. Study this Quidditch great by crafting something shaped like a circle or an O (e.g. a ball or a hoop!)

Alright Slytherins its time that we show the other houses what we can do! What better way than to make our Quidditch team?
Please keep in mind that projects don't count for House points.

Seeker- Seekers have to be fast and keep a keen eye out for the Snitch as its very small and very fast. To tryout for the position of Seeker, craft something that is small and/or fast. (Examples: miniatures, cars, cheetahs...) I am Seeker doll storage stool

Keeper- Keepers have to be alert and ever on their guard to make sure the opposing team scores as few points as possible. To tryout for the position of Keeper, craft something that you can defend yourself with. NOTE: please make it a "play" version and not something to actually hurt someone with! (Examples: swords, bows/arrows, shields...)

Beaters- Beaters have to be on their toes to protect their team from assaults from the Bludgers. To tryout for the position of Beater, craft something that is used for protection. (Examples: bookcovers, jewelry boxes/bags, sewing machine covers...)

Chasers- Chasers have to work together in order to score as many points as they can before the Snitch is captured. To tryout for the position of Chaser, craft something that works better when there are multiples. (Examples: earrings, booties, socks...)
