Abbee!!! Thanks again. you're doing so great at being a real Quidditch Captain.
The flags you did a so pretty. I love the way you dye fabric, I'm happy to have some of that in my home Smiley

Noodle, that is SO, SO cute!!!

Pottermouth, they came out very great!!! I have that book too, but with the moving I really don't know it which of our boxes it is. I'm seriously considering calling my BF a ravenclaw, just with the sight of how many Book boxes we have. Tongue They must be so soft too. I love alpaca yarn.

Pink, I love it (it's red!) and I'm sad you're disapointed, because it looks very good and not joined at all, not on my laptop anyway Tongue

Yay Snape! His expression is perfect!

NEWT Subject: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Slyterin
Project Name: Red snuggles for newborn niece/nephew
Brief Description:
In my opinion, there is no creature more magical than a newborn baby and if you check out any handbook, these little creatures need a lot of caring for. My brother and SIL are expecting their third child come August, and to help them care for this little treasure, I will put my crochet hook to work and hook up a baby blanket. I've bought a big bag of soft linnen boucl yarn in a beautiful red (gender-neutral hooray! It's their third time of wait-and-see-till-it's-born.) for just 5 at a second hand fair. It is commonly believed that red brings good fortune and scares away demons and peril, so a red blanket is sure to bring the baby joyous dreams and scare away nightmares and illness. I've also read that the colour vision of newborn babies is fairly limited, and that black and white and primary colours are what they learn to see first, and contrast is a thing that gets their attention most. Cute though they might be, pastel colours are very hard for babies to distinguish, hence the primary colours.

The boucl aspect of the yarn will make the blanket warmer than using a smooth yarn (because it traps more air) and since it's linnen, it's not prickly and one of the fibers the least likely to cause allergic reactions.

If I finish the baby blanket in under one month, I will extend my care package for this magical creature with even more snuggles, probably in the form of red baby booties to keep its toes toasty and a little hat to protect its head from the elements.

LOVE that Neville hoop!!

Don't worry, Maman. Just like McGonagall, I'm highly invested in how our Quidditch Team does. I'm just trying to help encourage participation and practice! Teamwork, right? Wink It's not your fault I spend entirely too much time on Craftster...

I'm not disappointed Grin  I'm thrilled with the illusion that it is individual squares (I get to skip all the joining Cool).  And I do love it in red!  The last one I made was white, by request, but I adore much more in red.

Still sending you good health & moments of rest blessings!! Grin

@Naantje: ~*NEWT Approved*~  Few creatures need more care or are more magical than a newborn.  I love your plan, especially your plan to use red and your preparations for if you finish a bit early.  Sending blessings of luck! Grin

Just a drive-by post to add a few more projects:

Class: Ancient Runes
House: Gryffindor
Name: Baby's first day(s)

I took all the cards we and my daughter received when she was born and put them into two little binders.  I want her to know how many people loved her and welcomed her, and I think she'll enjoy looking at them when she's older!  They are split into family (and friends-like-family) and friends.

Class: Alchemy
House: Gryffindor
Name: Pi-day Banana Cream

I made a banana cream pie for pi day (although in Canada we write our dates day/month/year on official documents so it doesn't work.....but whatever!).  The bananas on the bottom were sauteed in butter and brown sugar before pouring a cooked banana pudding on top, and topping with vanilla whipped cream and chocolate shavings.  The crust was a pre-made GF one from Kinnikinnick (which is headquartered where I live!) since I haven't mastered homemade GF pastry yet.

Class: Arithmancy
House: Gryffindor
Name: Peek a box

I took an old wipes container (one from Summer Semester I decorated that my daughter started coveting) and decided to make a quick toy for her.  She loves to pull wipes and tissues out of boxes, so I went off an idea I saw somewhere and tied a bunch of lengths of fabric, bias tape, and lace together into a very long piece, then put it into the box to be pulled through the opening on top.  I used a huggies wipe container because it has a soft silicone opening so she can't scratch herself.

that's so clever Tia!!! Kids love those kinds of thing. I guess you had a good... 15 minutes to yourself after that! Wink

Okay Pink Cheesy You "sounded" disapointed. Ah, interacting through texts!

Naantje, red (very nice choice!) is also said to remind babies of being in-utero and therefor holds shooting skills Cheesy

Class: Transfiguration + SPEW
House: Slytherin
Project: NICU baby hats
Description: The class prompt reads: "The prefix 'Lapi-' is from Latin lepus meaning 'hare.'  And the suffix -fors (often used in transfiguration spells) is Latin for "good chance, luck, fortune, stroke, wealth, karma', though it may also come from forma (or simply English form) meaning form.  Prove your mastery of the Lapifors spell by creating something inspired by a rabbit." I decided to focus on that invocation of fortune as I knitted this wee baby hat to be donated to the local NICU along with several blankets and a gown.  I finished one and so will submit it now, seeing as I'm knitting in the muggle fashion so it might take a while for me to reach my goal.  I'm imagining all the babies in little spring hats (Rabbits, baby chicks, flowers...) and will submit others as they get finished (and fit into a challenge!)

Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth 'It unscrews the other way.
