The nature center I work at has an art sale as its annual fundraiser and I wanted to contribute something to the silent auction. The theme of the show was "art inspired by nature" and thats easy since we work on a beautiful island. I embroidered the butterflies and flowers and quilted them into a wall hanging. I didn't get the dimensions but the butterflies were only about 4" wide max for perspective.

The whole shebang

The Gulf Fritillary

Lantana

Tiger Swallowtail

I didn't get a picture of the back but I used Alexander Henry's "Everglades"

I spent wayyyyy too long on it for the amount it sold for, but I was pretty proud of how it came out!

Beautiful and so much work. I'm so impressed by all that satin stitch and all those french knots  Tongue  I would not have the patience.  So good of you to donate it for a good cause.

I love this mini quilt!

The embroidery is so detailed and well done, great designs.

The use of black framing and that batik style fabric is beautiful, and I love that you put hanging hoops on it.

But most of all I love that you combined embroiderty and quilting.  I love combinations of embroidery or cross stitch with sewing.

more, more!

Hey Rangerbeth

The Designs are really beautiful. It's not easy to do such intricate embroidery flawlessly but you excelled it. Really loved the French Knots!

Thanks so much! I don't know about the flawless part but if it appears that way, then I am mega happy!
