I got the rest of my peices cut out and the sunburst part of the purse sewn for both sides this weekend. That was all the time I had. I didn't get to finish the entire front. I plan to try to piece together a few minutes this week. This purse is going so slow due to my free time. I need to carve out more time and get it done! I really want to have it by the end of the month but with the kiddo's baseball games and chores not so sure that will happen. I am still working away though. It will get done sometime!

The bags people are making look very professional! Thankfully clutches and totes are not too difficult so that is what I am sticking too. Everyday clutch 1 has still not had the lining sewn in (very silly since it should not take very long), but everyday clutch 2 is in progress and so is the evening clutch as of yesterday. They may all end up being completed at a very similar time and then I will move on to making the tote bags. Will post a picture when I have something complete, I really need to focus on one thing!

Okay, here is some proof that I am still here and crafting-a-long. LOL! I wish I was as fast a sewer as the rest of you! Alas I am SO S-L-O-W.
I finished up the front and back of the purse and added trim for the first time. I have never attempted trim before so this was a bit of a stresser. It is wonky in places to put it nicely but this is my first purse for myself (I have done wristlets but nothing else for me) and I am okay with it. It's a learning experience.

Please ignore the dirty looking ironing board.  Embarrassed
As you can see the front turned out WAY bigger than it was suppose too. I don't think I made the seam allowances big enough on the patched pieces. Though I didn't think I was THAT far off.

I am going to place the liner piece over it and trim it slightly bigger than that. Then there is more trim around it. Hopefully this trim will be smoother.

And thanks to everyone for keeping me motivated and inspired! I know without this board the fabric would have lived out it's life in a bag with the pattern untouched forever.

JessKelly - can't wait to see your clutches! I do the same thing, I get excited, finish the focus of the purse, and then really want to move on to another project. The lining and details can be so boring sometimes. I just want to see what it will look like! Ha!

That is going to be one fun purse!

I looked back at the pattern you posted to see if maybe the bottom part was gathered a bit...nope...but you could do that...gather the top until it fits into the yoke part...it would not take much...yeah--you are probably right...in quilting/patchwork, seam allowances have to be pretty spot on to fit...

But, fixable and great for your first time making a bag like this!  Love how it is coming together!
