Your purses are great , and the rivets what are they?

The rivets are those metal studs on the black band.  There are different kinds.. I used "double cap" ones that look the same on either side of material..

you punch a hole in fabric and fit the rivet and then hammer with a special tool to tighten.. I use them on straps to secure or just decorative.

Neat. Thanks for the pic of the hardwear too.
I went to an outdoor festival and all I could think was how much I wanted a small, little take around purse for just such an occasion. With craftshow season gearing up I need to make myself a little tote soon!

The purlbee monk's bag is a great walk around purse, I made one.

The main link is :  http://www.daysforgirls.org/   the instructions for the flannel liners are here: http://media.wix.com/ugd//1150cf_9bff87c4183adac7d38e46dae0ca337b.pdf  they are very easy and take very little fabric but make a world of difference!  The other kit contents patterns:  http://www.daysforgirls.org/#!patterns-and-sewing-tips/c1upv

Hax- great idea with the rivets.   The envelope style adds visual interest.  I love the color blocking on the purse you previously did.
Diesels_Mom, Your purse is great.  Glad you were able to get your water heater up and going again.  One of those items of life that I don't even consider a luxury- just a fact of life.  Until you don't have it and then I remember lots of people don't have water heaters and indoor plumbing.  I sew fabric menstrual pads for Days for Girls- a charity that supplies teen girls in third world countries reusable kits so they can keep going to school during their cycle-  Washing and drying is all done by hand and even hanging their items out to dry can be problematic and difficult.  Thank goodness for the modern conveniences we have.

That sounds like a worthwhile cause, do you have a link? Maybe I can contribute some sewing or even fabric. i have tons of flannel left over from sewing my Grandsons layette.

Diesels_Mom love your bags!  I prefer your addition with the zipper pockets.    They add a lot of style to it.

I somehow fell very much behind on this (curse real life, law school and two jobs for getting in the way Roll Eyes ) and while I've been gone you've all been making such amazing progress. Great work all of you ladies! Your projects are awesome and inspiring and I can probably add five more bags to the list of Must-Make-Some-Day! Smiley

Now I'm determined to get started on my own. Right now. So this is me pressing 'post' and getting started!

An afternoon of serious crafting helped a lot, so this is my current progress:

Next step is assembling the sides! Cheesy
