Those are some great tips & cool ideas. Like the cardborad & duct tape sounds good, though I was afraid to just use cardboard knowing me I would get the bag wet & the cardboard would fall apart, but with the duct tape that would help. I have used the thicker interfacing & that does work. Plastic canvas is good too!

Started my denim upcycle purse tonight - I may or may not keep sewing once the kiddos are asleep.

Here are the materials -

Here is the bottom sewn on

Next step is to close the bottom and make box corners. Then I need to make the lining. At least it's started!

Plastic placemats cut up make good bottom inserts.
I have used the thick vinyl  type and the hard plastic.

Great tip!  I have a bunch of ugly plastic placemats that I was just about to throw out into the trash!

I am making a purse out this fabric and lining it with a classic check...I think I also have some some interesting cowboy buttons that I want to use somewhere and some rope trim...I want to make it for a friend who loves the rodeo! Cheesy

ha ha Yes, for sure!

Here is one I did a few years ago using the same fabric in a different colorway...the top part was black denim...not sure if I want to do the same style, probably more like a zippered tote...I only have enough fabric to do the main body so anything else will have to be some other fabric...like the straps or handles...I know the person likes an adjustable shoulder strap...at least I can get started and then wing it from there

I buy a ton of my novelty fabrics at this location...you are going to hate me if you go there because they have the cutest prints...I think 1 yard is their minimum but I usually can make something else besides a purse...Cheesy

They are out of stock on the exact print but here are similar. I love the pink one!
