Realized that I'd neglected to post this sooner.  It is the second of my clown series.......and the one that I managed to snooker my husband into participating.  I told him that no one would ever be able to tell I used him as a model, but I was wrong.  Everyone who has seen it knows immediately that it's him.  Despite his protests, I think he secretly loves it.

So It Became a Game of Two Halves  - 36" x 24" oil on board:

My favorite parts:

And a few progress shots for those interested:
It began as a grisaille painting:

That I then glazed color over:

and then I painted directly over some of the areas because it seemed too "sterile".

While I do not care for clowns, this piece is fantastic!  If it makes your husband feel any better, I think your husband is one hot tamale!  My husband posed once for me.  He made me promise nobody would ever see it, and that I kept it hidden.  I've kept my promise, and only I look at it every so often.  Based on the subject matter, I wouldn't let anybody else see it any how.   Grin   Shocked   Wink   Tongue   Kiss

I think it's awesome that you used him as your model!  It's fantastic.  I appreciate you showing some in process photos.

I love your clown paintings, despite the fact that I (along with most of craftster, it looks like) hate clowns. Your husband should be pleased to be included in your work, it's always so great!

I admire your work and always look forward to seeing them...for some reason, this clown does not disturb me like some do...

What a wonderful model!  Such an expressive face!

The eye in the glass is extremely disturbing...
