Since the Protection of Birds Act 1954 it has been illegal to take the eggs of most wild birds, and it is illegal to possess or control any wild birds' eggs taken since that time under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is also illegal to sell any wild bird's egg, irrespective of its age.

This however is an altogether different kind of collection, and completely legal! Grin

It's a plain wood box, stained, with wooden plaques containing bird's eggs, humainly collected Wink

The writing on the eggs was from their descriptions in the bird's egg book. I tried to find amusing ones.

Wonderful!  Smiley As everyone else, I love the descriptions. What was the spark for the egg idea?

Thank you!

I bought a book in a charity shop 'The Observers Book of Bird's Eggs', and then the necklace I used to make this project, then I wanted something to do with some of the other eggs and their descriptions and I thought about a collection. I already had the wooden rectangles from another project so it was great that they fitted so nicely into that box...and that I had just the right amount! It's good to know that the boxes I hoard get used eventually! Cheesy

I love the possibilities of wooden boxes. It's a challenge to use them in some creative way that they have new life. Smiley
