I want to make a set of cookie cutters, but I'm clumsy with bending metal and I'd like them to be a little more solid and last longer than, say, "foil" cutters or cutters made from a disposable pie tin. Are there any clays that I could use? Or are they all too porous for this without having to use a varnish/glaze with an actual kiln?

From what I've been reading about cookie molds (not cookie cutters...haven't found anything on them)...
bisque material is used and because of the porous quality, that actually helps release the dough.  The glaze creates a natural moisture vacuum which makes the dough stick.

Hope this helps a bit!
