I had a small portion of waste fabric from my latest work, so I showed my ambition and made a bookmark with it.  I'm running out of books to put all my bookmarks in, by the way.

On 14 count oatmeal aida with 3 colors: DMC 498, 798, and 996.  The big word is with 2 strands, the backstitching is a single strand.  I put my signature on the back.

I use 2 pieces of fabric and stitch them together with the border, thereby making a pocket within the bookmark.  I like using a sturdy wooden insert, like a tongue depresser, to seal up in the bookmark, which allows a reader to rest the bookmark under his or her thumb across the center of a book and keep the book open while he or she reads.  I was all out of wood, so I just put a bit of card stock in there (also the remnants of another craft, R-E-C-Y-C-L-E) to stiffen it up.

Any advice on hiding where I ended off on the back?  It always looks a little messy and I find it difficult to hide it on the inside.

Aww, nuts, I just realized I forgot to date it.

I don't watch that show but that line is insane.  I love insane comments like that.  It looks really good I don't know anything to hide that little end.  I've not done any needlework in a long while, though I've got a bunch of it in my queue right now.  I think it looks perfectly fine, I wouldn't have given that little knot a second look under normal circumstances.
