Gotta go - kids chewed thru their straps...

So I volunteer at my kids' school alot. And especially when they have roller skating (I used to do derby) - I stop by every day and help out w/the kids (mostly the K/1 classes). I told them if they were good - and listened to me - I'd give them a handsome treat at the end of skating. So I made 108 (yup - I'm batshitcrazy) of these bad boys for ALL the students/faculty/teachers at their school during Catholic schools week for them. And it took me over 60+ hrs to make them all - but the kids totally deserved it. And that's what matters Cheesy  They were a bit weirded out by eating Jesus & the Virgin Mary - for all of about 2 seconds Cheesy

Grin They ate them - and they swore they were tasty! I NEVER eat any of my cupcakes - because by the time I'm finished with them - I NEVER want to see them again! Some of the older kids took home their toppers so their parents could see them. Needless to say - the kiddos all love me  Roll Eyes

The toppers are made w/melted candy wafers. I melt them in the microwave in a ziploc, cut a teeny tiny hole in the corner and pipe onto waxed paper (with the drawing underneath). You have to make sure and make them thick - or else they'll break super easily. And hot weather is evil to them...   Tongue

i was just about to ask how you keep them from melting until i read that. i have such horrible luck with chocolate/candy melt decorations, i love doing them cuz they're easy and cute but they always warp and melt well before its time for them to be served....although that did work to my advantage when i was making ghosts for halloween one year, but in every other situation its no bueno

you might wanna try doing the same technique but with royal icing since it hardens and won't melt in hot weather, also royal icing decorations store for quite some time without going bad so you can do them in advance

these are crazy amazing though, so detailed. i dont think i'd have a problem with eating jesus and mary but for some reason i think i'd be creeped out by eating a nun
