I got my idea for this from a pin (pinterest addict right here) Cheesy Someone had taken vintage watches and put old pictures of family members into them. Since I got these watches from a thrift store and had no emotional attachment to them I decided to fill them with artwork of my favorite animals. I LOOOOOOVE barn owls and big cats!!

This was the most annoyingly tedious craft I've undertaken in a while but I think it was worth it. So... y'all better like it Wink

Before

The guts

After

Another option that I decided against.. I still really like it though so I might save it for a rainy day

I have to figure out what to do with the clock faces because I like them too much to throw away... any ideas fellow craftsters?

Thanks for looking Smiley

This is really cool! It's a really cute alternative for a locket. I'm not a big fan of necklaces, plus you can use a picture big enough to see without squinting! I'll definitely keep this in mind for the future!

As for the clock faces you took out, you could use them for a couple of awesome steampunk- or vintage-looking ATCs!! Just glue one onto a card and paint/decorate around it accordingly! Or really anything you want to decorate with a vintage or steampunk look.

What a clever idea, they look great.  If you know how to do simple beading, you could also swap out the leather straps for a beaded band for another look.  I did a watch this way, following a U tube video, and it was quite easy to do.

Thanks everyone!

SiFi Mom that's a great idea, thanks! Sometimes the watch bands are worn out and close to breaking so that would definitely fix the problem.

I don't know why, but this idea really appeals to me. I think it's the re-use of an older item, along with the idea of being able to carry around a small picture of something you really like... Very nice!

I've seen some of these around the internet and I think yours is great! (specially 'cause I love owls, hehe)

I might put this on my to-do list or maybe do this on a pocket watch (a cheap one,of course)
