A friend of mine is expecting her first child in March, and so I offered to make a diaper bag for her. The baby's nursery will be "Caribbean Blue" with coral and brown accents. She really loved the Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags, so I found a very similar pattern on Etsy to make for her. I went with an orange and white interior for not good reason (personal preference?) It can be worn like a backpack or a messenger bag or a regular diaper bag. There are 13 pockets total! (I think) And two straps for all the different ways to wear the bag. I hand embroidered the design on the front, but then I forgot to take a zoomed in picture of it....

And because it is hard to take pictures of the inside of a bag, here is the inside before it was flipped around:

I love, love, love it! It looks so well made and the attention to detail really stands out! I didn't know you were planning to do the straps in the interior fabric, but that looks so chic. Hooray for sewing machines and handmade gifts! You are a very sweet friend Smiley

I didn't think I was going to, but towards the end, I thought it needed more color variation on the outside Tongue

That is an awesome bag!  I love the color combo and all the pockets especially!  Your lucky friend should be very happy with it.  What was the pattern you used?

Thanks! She did love it (and all of her family, including a really funny uncle).

This is the pattern I bought: http://www.etsy.com/listing/77781804/classic-for-moms-converting-diaper-bag?

I made a couple modifications, but it was a fairly good pattern. The format made it tough to follow directions sometimes, but the steps were really thought out so that the final product was nice and fully finished. The things I changed were the zipping/fold-out flap on the front (my friend didn't want that since she wants to put something in that she can separate if it gets dirty), and I didn't like how the side pockets on the interior were supposed to be split (~3" each) so I un-centered the lining when I squared off the bottom to make ~5" pockets. (sorry if that was hard to follow Tongue )
