Around December I was absolutely SWAMPED with life. University finals, commissions, fighting off the usual cold 'n flus flying around, and I was to leave for a 2.5 week vacay in Hawaii over Christmas. I was finding everything very hard to manage.
And then a friend approached me, asking if there was any way that I would be able to do a custom painting for him, as the perfect Christmas gift to his mother. I was hesitant at first, but I asked him to explain what he would like. With a slight pleading look in his eye, he explained the story of his late younger brother, and the significance of the elements he would like (such as the words "Andrew", and "I Hope You Dance", as well as the way the dragonfly is hovering above a pond). It was absolutely beautiful, and it touched me. So I told him, yes, I will do everything in my power to get this done for you before Christmas. So I buckled down, went to town and WORKED LIKE A MADWOMAN.

Sleep? What is such a thing?  Cheesy

Thank you everyone!
It was a satisfying painting to finish for a couple reasons. One, I actually made the deadline. Two, I knew how happy it would make someone. That has to be the best feeling as an artist. Smiley

Recently, I've become obsessed with painting of butterflies and dragonflies, especially the real looking ones. This is beautiful on so many levels.

Your painting is beautiful, you are a beautiful person for doing this, and the thought behind it is beautiful!
