Meta Mittens - The Mitten Project

So for the second pair of mittens done on The Mitten Project AND the first poll! The Meta Mitten was chosen. It was soo exiting having the first poll and I was actually surprised that I got 26 votes!

I made a little difference in the pattern compared to the original as I did one of the sheep in black. It just seemed so logic. The picture here is of the unblocked mittens as I haven't gotten them blocked at all yet. But sweet are they. They are too big for my teny-tiny hands but doesn't really matter as the project isn't about doing mittens for myself. There need to be something for those who have bigger than just women's S/M

Lovely.  I really like the black and white.  Reminds me that I have a couple of ancient patterns for Sanquhar  gloves which are also black and white and very similar in pattern to these.  They are knit using one strand of wool in each hand so you have to be able to knit Continental style as well as the more conventional way.  I made a pair for an aunt about 40 years ago. Seeing your mittens inspires me to have another go.

If I work on a pattern that has longer strands running on the back I normally use the combined as it makes sure I don't tighten the knit too much. I simply get a looser and nicer piece in the end.

Hi there, loca4crafts. The most important realization I have done with the whole knitting thing is that you just have to try it out. I had a bad experience with color work and it took about 13 years before I tried it again. When I watched some of the instruction videos on Youtube it became quite clear and it made it a lot easier to overlook it! On my blog I write notes and thoughts on the patterns where there is small tips on how to work color knit. Hope you find the courage!
