I have just got round to trying illusion/shadow knitting.  I had thought it would be really complex, but actually it is just knit & purl, with stitch markers (plenty of stitch markers!).  A well written pattern helps too!

For a friends baby I made this teddy bear blanket by Woolly Thoughts.

It is using sirdar snuggly yarn, which is soft, but most importantly, machine washable!  The bear is most visible from the baby's eye view.

I had some yarn left, so knitted up a simple baby hat (with added crochet ears).

And some seamless baby booties.

I can't wait to try some other illusion knits.  C&C welcome Smiley

Beautiful, how I wish I could knit! This looks like it came from a high cost baby boutique, what a lucky baby. Love the color too.

Wow, this is a wonderful effect.  Not being a knitter I've never heard of it before.  The hat and booties are cute too.

Thank you all!  Smiley

If anyone is thinking about trying illusion knitting then I would suggest this tutorial from Woolly thoughts, it is a simple square to get your head around the charts...  This was mine in rather bright colours!

Great blanket and clothing. I like how it is beautiful and adorable but not overly babyish.
